We find that family involvement in treatment is essential to the success of each resident; in fact, studies show family involvement and support can increase each resident’s chances of ongoing recovery by up to 50%. During their stay, each resident will have a minimum of four 60-minute family therapy sessions facilitated by a Mental Health Therapist (LPCC). Family therapy is a form of psychotherapy that seeks to reduce distress and conflict by improving the systems of interactions between family members. Some of the topics that are addressed in family therapy include but are not limited to: impact of substance use on the family, underlying family conflict, expressing concerns and feelings, transitional services planning, and other family matters discussed during sessions. Each family will have 3-4 sessions during their child’s stay. ATC makes every attempt to be flexible in the scheduling of family sessions.
